A future without the arts is a dull one. Happy Socks shows us what that future might look like, and how we can help save it.
Known for their bright, over-the-top designs and collaborating with the likes of Keith Haring and Snoop Dogg, Happy Socks will be debuting a limited edition line of dull, colorless (but still chic) socks in an effort to raise awareness and money for the Americans for the Arts fund. An institution dedicated to expanding and maintaining arts programs in US schools. Music (and art) programs mean more than just learning hot cross buns on the recorder.
Empty storefronts in major cities across the US would be physical and visual representations of what the depth of loosing art would mean. Also showing them the scary truth of what naked mannequins look like.
We chose to interrupt the user experience on Spotify and Instagram, the world’s largest suppliers of musical and photographic art. Reminding users once again, art in any form should never be taken for granted. Even when that art is a selfie.
